Η μέτρηση της όσφρησης γίνεται συνήθως από ΩΡΛ με μια εξέταση που ονομάζεται οσφρησιομετρία. Θα κληθείτε να αναγνωρίσετε κάποιες μυρωδιές ή την έντασή τους, ενώ ο γιατρός θα σημπληρώνει μία φόρμα αποτελεσμάτων.

Κανονικά θα πρεπει η υπηρεσία στην οποία θα κάνετε χρήση του πιστοποιητικού αν χρειαζεται κάποια συγκεκριμένη εξέταση να σας την αναφέρει. Συνήθως ομως μια απλή ωρλ κλινικη εξέταση σε συνδυασμό και με τεστ όσφρησης (sniffin’ tests) είναι αρκετή.
