Πολύ ωραία ερώτηση και χαίρομαι που την κάνετε, γιατί είναι κάτι που συχνά προκαλεί σύγχυση.
Η καλλιέργεια κολπικού υγρού είναι χρήσιμη για κοινά μικρόβια και μύκητες, αλλά δεν ανιχνεύει με την ίδια ευαισθησία μικρόβια όπως τα χλαμύδια κ καθόλου ιούς όπως ο έρπης. Για αυτά, η PCR είναι η πιο αξιόπιστη μέθοδος και ενδείκνυται ειδικά όταν υπάρχουν επίμονα συμπτώματα χωρίς ευρήματα στην απλή καλλιέργεια. Φυσικά το κόστος είναι ένα θέμα κ γι' αυτό δεν είναι πάντα η πρώτη μας επιλογή.
