Οι γονείς δεν έχουν σχέση. Η βιοψία μπορεί να βγεί αρνητική, αλλά σπάνια.

Δεν έχει σημασία τι εμφανίζουν ή όχι οι γονείς. Η αξιολόγηση γίνεται στο κάθε άτομο ανεξάρτητα. Θα μπορούσε η βιοψία να είναι αρνητική με θετικά αντισώματα. Αυτό συνεπάγεται ότι μελλοντικά, έχετε αυξημένες πιθανότητες να εμφανίσετε κοιλιοκάκη. Να σημειωθεί ότι η διάγνωση μπαίνει με θετική βιοψία δωδεκαδακτύλου (πρέπει δείγμα να ληφθεί από το δωδεκαδάκτυλο και όχι από το στομάχι).
