Για να μην μπερδευτούμε με την ορολογία, το πυλωρικό στόμιο είναι το σημείο όπου συνδέεται το στομάχι με το δωδεκαδάκτυλο. Αν υπάρχει στένωση εκεί, είναι πολύ πιθανό να γίνει αντιληπτή στη γαστροσκόπηση λόγω δυσκολίας που θα έχει το ενδοσκόπιο να περάσει από εκεί. Διάγνωση παθήσεων του στομάχου ΔΕΝ γίνεται με απλό υπέρηχο κοιλίας. Απεικονιστικά, καλύτερες ενδείξεις θα δώσει η αξονική τομογραφία.
