Αναλόγως που θα κάνετε την εξέταση αλλά,ει και το είδος της μέθης που χρησιμοποιείται και κυμαίνεται από απλή ζαλάδα μέχρι κανονικό ύπνο.

Εφόσον θελήσει ο ασθενής, του παρέχεται ενδοφλέβια ήπια καταστολή ("μέθη") με 1 ή 2 φάρμακα που μπορεί να προκαλέσει "ζαλάδα" ή ύπνο (εξαρτάται από το φάρμακο ή/και την δόση).
