  • Στο παρελθόν, κάποιες πληροφορίες (όπως για την ύπαρξη διαφραγματοκήλης) έδινε μια μέθοδος διαδοχικής λήψης ακτινογραφιών μετά από κατάποση βαρίου (ή γαστρογραφίνης). Σήμερα όμως είναι πλέον πολύ δύσκολο να βρείτε κάπου που να γίνεται, ακόμα και σε μεγάλα νοσοκομεία. Γενικότερα μιλώντας, το εύρος πληροφοριών που μπορεί να δώσει η γαστροσκόπηση δεν μπορεί να το υποκαταστήσει άλλη εξέταση.
