Μπορείς να δώσεις αίμα μετά από θεραπεία για σύφιλη;

Η σύφιλη είναι σεξουαλικώς μεταδιδόμενο νόσημα που αντιμετωπίζεται αποτελεσματικά με την κατάλληλη αντιβιοτική θεραπεία (συνήθως πενικιλίνη). Ακόμη κι αν θεραπευτείτε πλήρως και τα τεστ γίνουν αρνητικά, η αιμοδοσία δεν επιτρέπεται ξανά σε άτομα που έχουν νοσήσει από σύφιλη.
Αυτό συμβαίνει γιατί οι υπηρεσίες αιμοδοσίας ακολουθούν πολύ αυστηρά πρωτόκολλα ασφαλείας, ώστε να αποκλείσουν κάθε πιθανότητα μετάδοσης μέσω αίματος. Έτσι, για λόγους προστασίας των ληπτών αίματος, ένα άτομο με ιστορικό σύφιλης δεν γίνεται ξανά δεκτό ως αιμοδότης.
