Καλό είναι να γίνει ενδοσκόπηση λάρυγγα ώστε να διευκρινιστεί αν υπάρχει κάποια βλάβη στις φωνητικές χορδές, όπως για παράδειγμα πολύποδας. Αν υπάρχει οίδημα φωνητικών χορδών τότε πιθανώς να χρειαστεί θεραπεία με κορτιζόνη. Συνήθως μετά από ίωση βελτιώνεται η φωνή μέσα σε 1-2 εβδομάδες. Απλά μέτρα που μπορείτε να ακολουθήσετε είναι η καλή ενυδάτωση και οι εισπνοές υδρατμών.
