Στην κλινική μου εμπειρία, η κολύμβηση σε παιδί με παιδικό καταρράκτη είναι γενικά ασφαλής και δεν αντενδείκνυται. Η μόνη εξαίρεση είναι η άμεση μετεγχειρητική περίοδος μετά από επέμβαση καταρράκτη, όπου συστήνω αποχή μέχρι να ολοκληρωθεί η ανάρρωση και να επιβεβαιωθεί η ασφάλεια από τον θεράποντα οφθαλμίατρο. Σε όλες τις άλλες περιπτώσεις, το παιδί μπορεί να συμμετέχει κανονικά, με τη χρήση κατάλληλων κολυμβητικών γυαλιών και υπό τακτική οφθαλμολογική παρακολούθηση.
